The Startup India initiative of the Government of India envisages to build a robust Startup eco-system in the country for nurturing innovation and providing opportunities to budding entrepreneurs. The active support of State/UT Governments is crucial for achieving the overall objectives of the program.
In this regard, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion organized a day long Startup India States’ conference on 12 September, 2017 at Pravasi Bhartiya Kendra, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. The objective of the conference was to provide a platform to all the States to discuss the progress made and showcase their best practices. Besides the states, all the stakeholders of the Startup ecosystem also participated in the event to exchange their ideas.
The Government has proposed a draft framework for ranking of State/UT Governments basis the initiatives undertaken for building their Startup ecosystem. Comments/suggestions on the framework are invited.
