In India, the Food sector has emerged as a high-growth and high-profit sector due to its immense potential for value addition, particularly within the food processing industry, accounting for about 32 percent of the country’s total food market.
The government has also sanctioned 39 Mega Food Parks (MFPs) to be set up in the country under the Mega Food Park Scheme. Currently, 18 Mega Food Parks have come online.

Foodcloud.in, is a marketplace for home food, with verified home chefs in Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai. FoodCloud is a platform for enterprising individuals to become home chefs and provide on-demand, home-cooked meals to organizations and individuals with no investment. It gives customers the chance to enjoy delicious and healthy home cooking without having to do it themselves.
Foodcloud.in is an online portal that connects foodies with home chefs and caterers. Customers can choose from over 35 cuisines to order daily meals or cater parties. Revenue is acquired through commissions on each order. Since it's all online they were able to launch services in three cities without a single person on the ground.

Jackfruit365.com is a startup initiative that looks to streamline the organized market for Indian Jackfruits. Around 80% of the fruit’s stock from the subcontinent is wasted, or about ₹2000 crore each year. So through research and engineering intervention Jackfruit365 developed a patented 'green jackfruit flour', which can reduce the energy density and glycemic load of most traditional Indian meals to flat breads and pasta.
The flour, made from mature green jackfruits, can replace up to a third of the rice/wheat flour or batter in rotis and idlis, without changing the taste or texture of the dishes. The startup also automates the processing of large jackfruits to convert them to flour, reducing the price of the Green Jackfruit Flour by 1/6th.
The patent has been approved for grant in India and is in the final stages of approval in the US.
