Synergies between India and Japan’s innovation ecosystems are extensive. Signing of a joint statement between the Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry of Japan, and Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India paved the way for a vast pool of initiatives to accelerate startup collaboration.
In furtherance of this concerted vision, Startup India has partnered with Embassy of India, Tokyo to help Indian startups with an exclusive opportunity to explore Japan as a potential business destination. To achieve the same, focused pitching sessions are being organised for Indian startups to pitch their innovations to Japanese investors and business corporations for exploring investment, strategic business, and technical collaborations.
Startups selected for the pitching sessions are winners and finalists of the National Startup Awards 2020 organized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) to recognize and reward outstanding Indian startups. A total of 1,641 Startups participated in the awards. Each of the winning startups have been selected meticulously by various panels of industry experts nominated by DPIIT.
The previous pitching sessions in Clean Energy, Energy Efficiency, Waste Management, Agri Value Chain and Processing sectors saw overwhelming participation from stakeholders across India and Japan. We encourage all ecosystem enablers, investors, and stakeholders to explore the upcoming sessions to view some of India’s leading solutions in sectors including Health, Finance, Education and more.
