The Women-Led Innovation sector in India recognizes startups with women directors, emphasizing the impact of female entrepreneurs on social and economic demography. Women's participation in the workforce is crucial for economic growth and job creation. As of December 2023, 48% of startups in India have at least one women director, totaling over 67,000 women directors across 55,000 startups. The inclusive support for entrepreneurs has contributed to the growth of the Indian startup ecosystem. There are 7,800 startups with only women directors, highlighting opportunities for women entrepreneurs.
State startup policies play a vital role in providing support for capital, mentorship, and market access. The 'Women for Startups' initiative conducts capacity-building workshops, impacting over 1,300 women entrepreneurs across 22 states and 24 districts, with 200 startups pitching to investors and incubators.
